GARAGE DOOR OPENER REPAIRS
All Garage door openers rely on the springs to handle the weight of the door. If your garage door opener is making noise, grinding, or working intermittently, your garage door needs to be inspected. Your garage door could be off balance causing your motor to run loud. Many times grinding noises are a sign of a broken garage door spring and a damaged opener. The image of the left show a garage door trolly covered in grease. Grease does not fix a garage door opener when the garage door is not working properly. Greasing up a your garage door motor rail can cause your trolly or your garage door openers gears to strip.

GARAGE DOOR OPENER TERMINOLOGY
Garage door openers- The actual device is known as an opener or operator. Sometimes people call the device a “motor”. This is incorrect. The motor is the portion of the operator that runs the device and usually has a lifetime warranty. Manufacturers may supply the “motor” at no cost but there is installation cost and sometimes weeks to wait. Remotes- Remotes are available with one to 3 buttons. Remotes are not OPENERS. Some remotes are universal and can operate garage door openers and gates from different manufacturers. Safety sensors- Be sure these sensors are installed 6″ from the ground. One light must be amber and one green. If they are not, try to adjust a remote manually until the light turns on. You can mnaully override a sensor that is not working by holding the garage door openers wall button down.
Garage Door Opener Terminology
Logic Board- Logic boards or circuit boards sometimes go bad. We do not recommend replacing a logic board on your garage door opener. Some companies do replace these but they have a high failure rate and do not travel well. Consider replacing your garage door opener if your logic board is bad. Warranties- Manufacturers warranties are for parts. If a product fails after one year there will be a labor charge to install defective parts. Garage door repair companies are independant from the manufacturers.
